John Black, CPA
With more than 20 years of experience in tax, accounting, and financial management, John Black brings a practical, well-rounded perspective to his work with clients. His background spans public accounting, senior financial leadership roles in government, and firsthand experience as a small business owner, allowing him to approach financial challenges with both technical expertise and real-world understanding.

Early in his career, John worked in public accounting, supporting individuals and businesses with bookkeeping, tax preparation and planning, financial statements, and advisory services. That foundation provided exposure to a wide range of entity types, accounting methods, and compliance requirements.

Over the past decade, his career has included senior financial leadership roles within Sacramento County, where responsibilities have included budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, grants, contracts, and oversight of complex financial operations. These roles strengthened a focus on organization, accountability, and building processes that produce clear, reliable financial information.
In addition, John previously owned and operated a small business for many years, giving him firsthand insight into the day-to-day realities of running a business, managing cash flow, serving customers, and making decisions with limited time and resources.​Today, that combined experience informs a practical, solutions-focused approach to client service. Whether assisting with tax compliance, improving accounting systems, providing advisory support, or stepping in as an interim controller or CFO, the focus remains on clarity, informed decision-making, and long-term financial stability.
